Australia’s Largest Stock Exchange to List Spot Bitcoin ETFs
The ASX stock exchange in Australia is expected to list its first batch of spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds by the end of 2024, as reported by Bloomberg.
Issuers such as VanEck, BetaShares and DigitalX have already applied for ETF approval earlier this year.
ASX, the top equity exchange in Australia, is responsible for managing about 80% of local trades and has a domestic market capitalization of $2.7 trillion as of March.
When asked about the matter, an ASX spokesperson confirmed that they are in talks with potential issuers, but declined to comment further.
Spot Bitcoin ETFs have been available in Australia since 2022 through CBOE Australia, with Global X 21Shares Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs being the only two currently listed.
The US introduced its first spot crypto ETFs in January, and it has since accumulated a total of $53.16 billion in net assets, surpassing initial expectations.
