Telegram has introduced a new feature allowing users to purchase in-platform advertisements using Toncoin, as revealed in an announcement over the weekend.

This enhancement is part of the messaging app’s latest update aimed at monetizing user activity, wherein 50% of ad revenue generated from public Telegram channels is distributed to their respective owners.

With this update, users can now promote their channels by spending as little as “a handful” of Toncoins. They will have the freedom to select the specific channels for placing their TON-powered ads, as mentioned in the announcement.

Additionally, channel owners will enjoy fee-less withdrawals of their rewards, with the withdrawal service set to be available in the upcoming weeks on Telegram’s Fragment exchange, as per the announcement.

Telegram justified the selection of the TON Blockchain citing its low fees, rapid transaction speeds, and the ability to handle a high volume of transactions per second. According to the announcement, TON achieved a record of 100,000 transactions per second during a test conducted last November.
