$112M Reportedly Stolen from Ripple, Expert Says
According to on-chain researcher ZachXBT, the Ripple blockchain project may have been hacked for 213 million XRP, equivalent to approximately $106.6 million at the time of the hack.
This information was released by ZachXBT himself, who reported that the funds have been transferred to various cryptocurrency exchanges such as Binance, Kraken, OKX, HTX, MEXC, Gate, and others.
Ripple’s co-founder, Chris Larsen, revealed that his personal accounts were targeted by unknown individuals on January 30.
However, he reassured that the problem has been quickly identified and the affected addresses have been frozen.
The news of the hack caused the value of XRP to drop to $0.48, but it later recovered to $0.5. It is important to note that this hack is not the first security issue Ripple has faced.
In January, a supposed transaction of almost $15 billion in XRP on Bitfinex was discovered to be part of a failed partial payment exploit.
