Number of Merchants Accepting Bitcoin Rose by Almost 200% Last Year: Report
According to BTC Map, the number of organizations worldwide that are accepting Bitcoin as a form of payment has increased from 2,207 to 6,126 in the past year, marking a significant growth of 174%.
This data comes from the BTC Map tracker, which utilizes open-source information from OpenStreetMap to track and display locations where Bitcoin is accepted.
The data also reveals that the highest concentration of merchants accepting Bitcoin is found in Central and South America, while Africa and Asia have a lower adoption rate.
The United States and Europe are the leaders in crypto payments adoption, with China, India, and Russia trailing behind.
In early 2024, Japanese online retailer Mercari announced that it would start accepting Bitcoin as a form of payment in June of that year.
