TrueUSD Might Have Suffered a Data Breach
The issuer of the stablecoin TrueUSD, TrueCoin, recently reported a security breach at their former banking service provider.
This raises concerns over the potential exposure of some customers’ personal information.
The incident was discovered on September 20 when an abnormal change was detected in TrueCoin’s account.
This account, which contained certain KYC data such as user names, email and phone numbers, addresses, dates of birth, bank names, transaction histories, and public blockchain account addresses, was operated by the company until July 13, 2023.
There is a possibility that this sensitive information may have been accessed by the attackers.
However, it is important to note that TrueCoin’s internal systems were not compromised and their cybersecurity team promptly took action to prevent any further unauthorized access.
An investigation into the incident has also begun. The TrueUSD team has reassured customers that their system was not attacked and the TUSD reserves were not impacted.
