NFT CrypToadz is Purchased for $1.6M
An unidentified individual recently purchased NFT CrypToadz #4030 on the OpenSea platform for a staggering amount of 1055 WETH, equivalent to over $1.6 million.
The buyer also incurred a commission fee of $41,500. Some users were surprised to discover that the base price for NFTs in this collection is only 0.53 ETH.
Even the best offer for the purchased token did not exceed 0.6 ETH. The high price of the sale sparked speculation, ranging from a simple typing error to “wash trading.”
Commentators pointed out that the buyer’s wallet had received funds from the Tornado Cash mixer, indicating potential money laundering activity.
In August 2022, the US Treasury imposed sanctions on the service for this reason.
The sale of CrypToadz NFT for $1.6 million comes at a time when the market for such tokens is experiencing a decline.
