Brazil Opens Investigation on Ties Between Binance and Financial Pyramids
The Brazilian Chamber of Deputies’ Pyramid Investigation Commission is set to vote on a request to summon the head of Binance’s local division to testify, as reported by Portal do Bitcoin.
The regional manager of the exchange in the country is Guilherme Haddad Nazar, the nephew of the current finance minister Fernando Haddad.
The request was submitted by Deputy Alfredo Gaspar, who noted that Ever Operations and Investments and Braiscompany linked to Binance have been accused of operating pyramid schemes.
The exchange is also facing regulatory scrutiny in several markets, such as the US, Japan, China, Germany, the UK, and Brazil.
In a statement released by Binance, the company expressed their willingness to comply with the commission’s inquiries and deliver any information they need, noting that they have already helped in more than one legal investigation, giving the example of GAS Consultoria’s Gladeson Acasio dos Santos, who was arrested in August 2021.
The company also mentioned their collaboration with the federal prosecutors in their case against Braiscompany, with their assistance being officially recognized by the authorities.
