Nassim Taleb Questions Bitcoin as Financial Insurance
Nassim Taleb, author of the renowned work “The Black Swan,” has noticed that Bitcoin’s price movements during the current US financial turbulence do not indicate its status as a safe-haven asset.
He has inquired:
“How many suckers are left for whom “Bitcoin is a hedge”?”
Taleb has further explained that potential challengers who cite Bitcoin’s past profits as justification are missing the mark.
He has argued that investors put money in an asset in anticipation of its future growth from today’s price. Emmett Shear, co-founder of Twitch, shared similar perspectives while also noting Bitcoin’s “real purpose” as a form of remittance and secure value storage in countries where citizens face “below-market exchange rates and corruption.”
