Grumpy Cat Token Creator is Accused of Copyright Infringement
Glauber Contessoto recently received a notice of copyright infringement from Grumpy Cat Limited after launching a token based on the Grumpy Cat meme.
Although Contessoto claimed to have resolved all legal issues, a refutation was issued by the official Grumpy Cat account, affirming that no issues have been resolved and that the token still violates intellectual property laws.
At present, the coin has 2,904 token holders and a market cap of $5.45 million.
This comes several months after The Tolkien Estates successfully sued the creator of the JRR Token coin – a token based on the works of J. R. R. Tolkien – resulting in him being mandated to remove all infringing content and pay legal fees.
