Sam Altman, the founder of the Worldcoin startup team, has announced that they are migrating their applications from the Polygon network to the Optimism Collective’s ecosystem.

This decision was made as part of a joint effort between the Worldcoin Foundation and Tools for Humanity software provider.

The applications that will be transferred include the World App “gas-free wallet” and the World ID decentralized identity protocol.

With over 1.6 million beta signups and over 500,000 active monthly World App users, the migration to the Optimism mainnet will extend access and assist in the growth of Worldcoin’s value-oriented network of developers and users.

The partnership between Worldcoin and Optimism began almost a year ago with the development of an Ethereum improvement proposal, EIP-4844. Optimism’s mission is to create a “super chain” that consists of an ecosystem of second-level networks to facilitate secure interaction with other blockchains.
