Walmart CTO: The Role of Cryptocurrencies in Payments is Growing
Suresh Kumar, chief technology officer at US retailer Walmart, has said in an interview digital assets in the future will begin to play an important role in customers making payments.
According to him, the largest traditional retailer in the United States wants to meet the growing needs for transactions involving cryptocurrencies.
Kumar has admitted the changes will cover the metaverse – “on live streams, inside your social media app.”
He has added:
“So whether it is physical goods or virtual goods, they play a part in terms of what the customer wants. Whether it is physical or virtual inside, either the Metaverse or upfront, and then how people transact.”
The company announced last September 26 the launch of Walmart Land and Walmart’s Universe of Play, two game worlds powered by the Roblox platform.
