Square Enix CEO Announces the Company is Interested in Blockchain and NFTs
Yosuke Matsuda, president of Japanese video game developer and publisher Square Enix, has said in an interview with Yahoo! Japan that the company is exploring blockchain technology as the basis of a platform for creating “offline game content.” He has said:
“In the future, I would like to take on the challenge of providing offline gaming content. Now many of our games are delivered in the form of finished products, gamers consume this content. However, there are a certain number of players in the world who would like to contribute to make the game more interesting. And they will do it.”
According to him, the power of blockchain can be used to reward and incentivize such people. The president of the company has noted this will contribute to the emergence of innovative content.
In January, Matsuda released a New Year’s address in which he expressed his enthusiasm for new trends and talked about Square Enix’s desire to develop projects using blockchain and NFT.
