Elrond Network Acquires EU-licensed Payment Company Twispay
Europe’s-based blockchain project Elrond Network has acquired Twispay, a payment service provider from Romania licensed to issue electronic money.
In addition, the company is also a major participant in the Visa and MasterCard networks, which means we could also be talking about the issuance of payment cards.
The amount of the deal, which has already received the green light from the National Bank of Romania, remains unknown.
According to the statement shared by the companies, they have been holding consultations with the regulator since October 2021. Elrond has said that the decision of the central bank of the country is a “landmark,” and the acquisition is considered “the first strategic step in creating a bridge between traditional finance and the crypto space.”
