Crypto Advocate Tom Emmer Is Appointed Vice Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Digital Assets

Representative Tom Emmer of the United States has been named the vice chairman of the House Subcommittee on Digital Assets, Financial Technology and Artificial Intelligence.

In light of the current political climate, Emmer views this as an opportunity for American influence and values to shape the future of digital assets.

On Jan. 15, the Minnesota Republican expressed his beliefs while speaking on X. On Jan. 14, Committee Chairman French Hill announced the vice chairs and subcommittee assignments for the 119th Congress for the House Financial Services Committee.

The subcommittee’s establishment in 2023 was for the purpose of overseeing the development and use of crypto assets and related financial technologies, as well as examining the use and development of AI in financial services.

Hill acknowledged the importance of having knowledgeable and proactive leaders as chairs and vice chairs of the subcommittees, as the committee focuses on addressing crucial challenges.

He emphasized the goal of creating a regulatory framework that balances innovation and consumer protection, streamlining regulations for community banks, and ensuring accountability for agencies in their designated responsibilities.
