Ukraine Plans to Legalize Crypto in 2025
According to Daniil Getmantsev, head of the tax committee of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine is making preparations to legalize cryptocurrencies by early 2025.
The proposed legislation is currently being reviewed and aims to regulate digital assets while adhering to traditional taxation practices.
The draft bill is being developed in partnership with the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), with a focus on financial stability and compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) standards.
However, initial expectations for tax exemptions have been abandoned, and instead, a tax on converted crypto profits following rules similar to securities trading will be imposed.
The draft legislation is being advanced by a specialized working group and is planned to be presented for its first parliamentary reading in the first quarter of 2025.
