Hacker Steals $1.7M from Crypto Exchange XT.com
Cryptocurrency exchange XT.com has recently suspended all withdrawals due to an alleged hack of $1.7 million.
The exchange announced the temporary suspension for “wallet upgrade and maintenance” on November 28th, which came shortly after the blockchain security company PeckShield reported the hack. XT.com then confirmed that there had been an “abnormal transfer of platform wallet assets” and assured users that their assets would not be affected.
The exchange also stated that they maintain reserves 1.5 times greater than user assets for maximum security.
Based on data from PeckShield, the reported perpetrator of the XT.com breach has successfully exchanged the stolen funds for 461.58 Ether (ETH) and deposited them into an Ethereum address identified by PeckShield.
XT.com is a centralized exchange registered in Seychelles and established in 2018. It allows for trading of over 1,000 cryptocurrencies and currently has a daily trading volume of $3.4 million.
