On Thursday, XRP made a 1.22% gain and performed better than the overall cryptocurrency market, which experienced a 0.22% decline and had a total market cap of $2.065 trillion.

This increase in XRP’s value was fueled by news of Ripple filing a cross-appeal in their ongoing legal battle with the SEC.

On Thursday, US Attorney James Filan shared the latest developments in the SEC vs. Ripple case and revealed that Ripple had filed a cross-appeal against Judge Torres’s previous ruling.

The court filing stated that Ripple was appealing to the US Court of Appeals the final judgment that was delivered by Judge Torres on August 7, 2024, which required Ripple to pay a $125 million fine for violating the US Securities Act.

This cross-appeal came after the SEC filed a Notice of Appeal on October 2.
