Bitstamp Will Start Repaying Mt. Gox Creditors Today
Bitstamp will start distributing cryptocurrency to creditors of Mt. Gox today following a recent transfer of assets from the the collapsed exchange.
On July 24, the trustees transferred 5,106 Bitcoin directly to Bitstamp and 2,869 BTC to an unknown address, which were then transferred further until they ended up in wallets associated with Bitstamp.
Additionally, Bitstamp received Bitcoin Cash and Ether from the trustees. Recipients of these repayments will undergo security checks for a week before gaining full control of their coins, according to a statement from the exchange.
Customers in the United Kingdom will not receive repayments in the first round, but can expect to receive them in the next few months.
