Coinbase is poised to acquire Deribit, the world’s largest crypto derivatives exchange for Bitcoin and Ether options.

According to Bloomberg, the companies are in “advanced talks” and have informed regulators in Dubai, where Deribit is licensed, about the discussions, as any acquirer would need to transfer this license.

This update comes amid reports of Deribit also being in discussions with Kraken for a potential acquisition. Both exchanges are expanding their institutional offerings, with derivatives being one of the industry’s fastest-growing segments.

Recently, Kraken acquired NinjaTrader, a US-based retail futures trading platform, for $1.5 billion.
