SEC Opens Public Comments Period for Ethereum ETFs Options Trading
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is currently seeking public input to determine whether it should authorize options trading for three spot Ethereum ETFs.
As outlined in a regulatory filing issued on Tuesday, the SEC is inviting comments on the potential listing and trading of options on the Cboe Exchange, Inc. for the Grayscale Ethereum Trust ETF, Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust ETF, and Bitwise Ethereum ETF.
The public has a 21-day window to submit comments following their publication in the Federal Register. After reviewing the feedback, the SEC will decide whether to approve, disapprove, or initiate further proceedings related to the matter.
To date, the SEC has not approved options trading for spot Ethereum ETFs. While several spot Ethereum ETFs were approved in May 2024, companies have been eager to gain permission for options trading since then.
