Thailand’s Police Seize Almost 1,000 Bitcoin Miners
According to reports, authorities in Thailand have seized 996 Bitcoin mining devices from a company accused of illegally using electricity to power the machines.
The machines were confiscated on Jan. 8 in Phanat Nikhom, Chon Buri, and the commander of the Crime Suppression Division stated that the company, JIT Co, had been diverting electricity for their operations.
It is estimated that the company may have stolen hundreds of millions of baht, equivalent to at least $2.88 million, through the use of modified power meters that were used at night to avoid suspicion.
The company is officially registered for digital asset trading, but it is believed that they were using their power meters in a deceptive manner.
