SEC Postpones Decision on Franklin Templeton Crypto Index ETF Approval
The SEC has postponed its decision on Franklin Templeton’s application for a Bitcoin and Ethereum index ETF. The initial proposal, submitted on September 19, 2024, was published for public comment on October 8.
Originally set to expire on November 22, 2024, the 45-day review period has now been extended until January 6, 2025. To date, there have been no comment letters received by the commission regarding the proposed rule change.
Franklin Templeton, a company managing over $1.5 trillion in assets, already has a spot Bitcoin ETF operating since January, and a spot Ethereum ETF launched in July.
Currently, there are 11 spot Bitcoin ETFs and 8 spot Ethereum ETFs available in the market.
