Coinbase Sues SEC and FDIC
Coinbase has taken legal action against the US Securities and Exchange Commission and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
These lawsuits were filed in response to the two agencies not complying with Freedom of Information Act requests.
Coinbase has requested that the court compel the agencies to comply with the requests. The company hired consultant firm History Associates Inc. to submit the FOIA requests.
In its complaints filed in the US District Court for the District of Columbia, Coinbase accuses these federal financial regulators of attempting to restrict the crypto industry’s access to the banking sector.
FOIA requests allow the public to request records from federal agencies.
