Brazil’s Tax Authority to Seek Information from Foreign Crypto Exchanges

According to a statement from Brazilian officials, the country’s tax authority, Receita Federal do Brasil, plans to request information from foreign cryptocurrency exchanges in order to understand their operations within the country and ensure compliance with new tax laws.
This information-gathering process is expected to begin this week through an official ordinance.
According to the Deputy Secretary of Inspection for Receita Federal do Brasil, Andrea Chaves, the goal is to identify any potential illegal activities and gather data on Brazilian wealth that may be subject to taxation.
