Coinbase Resumes XRP Trading in New York
Following a legal battle over its status as a security, cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has announced that it will once again offer support for XRP trades in New York.
The decision, made in partnership with the state, will allow customers to buy and sell XRP on Coinbase’s website and mobile apps.
The move comes after Coinbase removed support for the token four years ago. In 2019, the exchange first introduced XRP trading in the US but halted it in January 2021 due to a lawsuit by regulators against XRP’s issuer, Ripple Labs.
Though Coinbase resumed XRP support later that year, New York residents were still restricted from using the token on the platform. However, the re-introduction of support for New York customers shows Coinbase’s commitment to addressing customer needs and staying in compliance with state regulations.
