Gate.HK Drops License Application in Hong Kong
Gate.HK, a crypto exchange based in Hong Kong, is shutting down its operations in the region and has canceled its application for a trading platform license.
The company has announced that it will be making significant changes to its platform and is encouraging its users to withdraw their assets by August 28.
New user registrations and deposits will no longer be accepted, and all tokens, including popular ones like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Solana, Polkadot, Polygon, Uniswap, and USDT, will be delisted by May 28.
Gate.io plans to resume its business in Hong Kong in the future, once it obtains the necessary licenses to operate legally.
The platform, which was launched in May 2023, had already applied for a virtual asset trading platform license with the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission in February of this year, but later withdrew the application on May 22.
