Australia Becomes Third Country with More Than 1,000 Bitcoin ATMs in Operation
There are now 1,013 cryptocurrency ATMs in operation in Australia, making it the third country with the most devices after the United States (31,191) and Canada (3,009), according to data from Coin ATM Radar.
The US reached its first 1,000 crypto ATM milestone in November 2017, followed by Canada in January 2021.
In June 2023, there was a resurgence in the installation of Bitcoin ATMs globally, bringing the total number to 37,665 at the time of writing.
In terms of manufacturers, General Bytes is the top company with 11,699 crypto ATMs (31.1%), followed by Genesis Coin (9718, 25.8%) and BitAccess (8052, 21.4%).
The leading operator of Bitcoin ATMs is Bitcoin Depot, with 7,542 devices in operation, accounting for 20% of the market share.
The top three also includes CoinFlip (4874, 12.9%) and BitStop (2565, 6.8%). In 2023, the number of crypto ATMs worldwide saw a decrease of approximately 11.4%, going from 37,830 to 33,484 units.
