Montenegro Will Release Do Kwon
According to local publication Vijesti, the Podgorica High Court has decided to release Do Kwon, co-founder of Terraform Labs (TFL).
The head of the prison in Spuz, Darko Vukcevic, told Bloomberg that Kwon’s release is set for March 23 at the end of his prison sentence for attempting to cross the border with fake documents. Kwon’s lawyer, Goran Radić, has also confirmed the release to the agency.
However, Kwon’s passport remains confiscated to prevent him from leaving Montenegro. Kwon was arrested in March 2023 along with former TFL CFO Han Chang-joon, as they were attempting to fly from Podgorica Airport to Dubai using fake passports.
While there were initially plans to extradite Kwon to South Korea, the Supreme State Prosecutor’s Office opposed it and the extradition process has been delayed while arguments are considered.
