UN: North Korea-linked Hackers Stole $750M in Crypto Last Year

The UN Security Council has reported that since 2017, North Korean hackers have stolen over $3 billion worth of digital currency.

According to the report, in 2023 alone, hackers from North Korea were responsible for 17 attacks resulting in the theft of $750 million worth of virtual currency.

The report also reveals that North Korean government authorities receive up to 50% of their income from hacker groups, which is used to fund their defense programs.

Additionally, digital currency is utilized by the North Korean government as a way to evade sanctions.

The UN report highlights the notorious Lazarus group as the main perpetrator, responsible for over $3 billion in stolen cryptocurrency in the past six years.
