On Monday, a security breach occurred on MicroStrategy’s X account, allowing attackers to post deceitful links promising a giveaway of MSTR tokens.

Once users clicked on the link, they were prompted to connect their wallet and request a fake airdrop, giving the hackers access to their addresses.

According to ZachXBT, a blockchain detective, the estimated losses from this attack amounted to around $440,000.

Scam Sniffer researchers revealed that one victim lost more than $420,000 in various altcoins. The stolen funds were sent to two different addresses, one belonging to the MicroStrategy account hacker and the other to a group known as PinkDrainer.

According to DeBank, the hacker currently holds $329,684. Some industry participants pointed out the clear signs of fraud.

A British crypto investor under the name Cobie stated that it is highly unlikely for MicroStrategy, which focuses solely on Bitcoin, to issue a token on the Ethereum platform.
