Solana’s Blockchain Suffers an Outage
At 09:52:45 UTC on February 6, the Solana network stopped producing blocks.
According to the team’s incident report, ecosystem engineers are investigating the outage on the beta mainnet. Laine, a blockchain software developer and Solana validator, explained that the failure was caused by a decrease in the main network’s performance.
Validators began taking snapshots using their own local ledger to prepare for the restart. However, the release is still being prepared by developers.
As a result of the blockchain shutdown, the SOL token dropped from around $96 to below $94.
According to CoinGecko, the asset saw a 4.5% decrease in 24 hours. It was previously reported that in February 2023, Solana validators had to restart the network twice due to an unknown error, resulting in a complete halt of economic activity.
