GameStop Shuts Down its NFT Marketplace
GameStop has announced that it will be shutting down its NFT marketplace due to regulatory uncertainty in the crypto space.
Despite its launch in October 2022, the marketplace, which focused on gaming assets and was operated by Ethereum blockchain partner ImmutableX, will no longer be operational.
GameStop had previously discontinued its crypto wallet in August, and customers will now have to sell their NFTs on other platforms as they are hosted on the blockchain.
While the closure may not come as a surprise to some, it marks a significant shift for the company, which had initially hoped to engage its loyal retail traders through its venture into Web3 technology.
