Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest Files for Bitcoin ETF Registration with SEC
The ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF, a proposal by ARK Investment Management and Swiss crypto custodian 21Shares, has filed a registration notice with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
On January 4, the firm registered its shares as securities on the Cboe BZX Exchange using Form 8-A.
This follows similar filings by the VanEck Bitcoin Trust and the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust, which were registered on the same day on the Cboe BZX Exchange and New York Stock Exchange Arca, respectively.
The previous day, Fidelity’s spot Bitcoin was also registered on the Cboe BZX Exchange.
The SEC has until January 10 to decide whether to approve or reject the listing of ARK Invest and 21Shares’ Bitcoin ETF shares.
While there are currently several pending applications, the regulatory body has never approved a spot Bitcoin ETF for listing on a US exchange.
The proposal for the ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF was previously rejected by the SEC in January 2023, with the reason being insufficient measures to prevent fraudulent and manipulative acts.
