Argentina’s Government Approves the Use of Bitcoin as a Contract Currency
Following the recent elections, the Argentine government has confirmed its acceptance of Bitcoin as a valid contract currency, according to statements from Foreign Minister Diana Mondino.
She has clarified that this also applies to other forms of cryptocurrency, as well as non-monetary commodities such as beef or milk, in accordance with current legislation.
President-elect Javier Milei, known for his support of Bitcoin, had previously stated that it represents a return of private sector control over currency.
However, despite the optimism of the crypto community, Milei has yet to make any concrete plans or proposals regarding Bitcoin or digital assets.
In contrast, the country’s central bank has proposed stricter guidelines for digital asset operations, with Milei vowing to combat fraudulent practices within the bank.
