JPMorgan: Ether’s Performance Might Surpass BTC’s in 2024
According to JPMorgan, Ether is expected to outshine Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in 2024, despite the bank’s general caution towards crypto markets.
The bank’s analysts, led by Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou, wrote in a note on Wednesday that they believe Ethereum will regain its dominance in the crypto ecosystem next year through the EIP-4844 upgrade, also known as Protodanksharding, which is scheduled for the first half of 2024.
This upgrade is expected to improve Ethereum’s network activity and help it outperform other cryptocurrencies.
Protodanksharding is a step towards the implementation of Danksharding, a more efficient form of sharding for Ethereum. Instead of splitting Ethereum into multiple shard chains, Danksharding introduces data blobs, which are temporary data packets attached to blocks.
These blobs can hold more data than blocks but are not permanently stored or accessed by the Ethereum virtual machine.
