Ordinal’s Bitcoin Inscriptions Added to US National Vulnerability Database
The inclusion of “inscriptions” in the Ordinals protocol has been identified as a cybersecurity risk for the primary cryptocurrency network by the US National Vulnerability Database (NVD).
The NVD has highlighted that certain versions of Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin Knots can use BRC-20 to bypass transaction data limits by disguising them as code.
When a vulnerability becomes listed in the NVD, it means that it has been analyzed, documented, and considered essential for public awareness.
The “inscriptions” in the Ordinals protocol involve adding extra information to a specific satoshi, which can be in the form of any digital media.
As these inscriptions are permanently stored on the blockchain, their accumulation through Bitcoin NFTs can lead to an increase in the network’s volume.
