US Space Force Major: Bitcoin’s Potential Should Be Studied
US Space Force Major Jason Lowry, also a National Defense Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, emphasizes the need for the military to prioritize studying Bitcoin’s Proof-of-Work algorithm.
In an open letter to the Defense Innovation Board, Lowry describes this issue as of “national strategic importance.”
The Board was formed to transfer advancements and practices from Silicon Valley to the US military.
Lowry believes that the underlying technology of Bitcoin, with its reusable Proof-of-Work network, can serve as a crucial strategy in the 21st century.

He also emphasizes the importance of technology in terms of cybersecurity and national security, stating that it is often underestimated.
