Mango Markets Attacker Transferred to Prison with Former FTX CEO SBF
The trial of Abraham Eisenberg, the suspected perpetrator of the attack on DeFi platform Mango Markets, has been postponed until next year, according to court documents.
Originally scheduled for December 4, the trial was requested to be delayed by the defense after their client was suddenly transferred from a prison in New Jersey to a detention center in Brooklyn on October 26.
The same detention center is where FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried has been since being found guilty in August.
In their motion, the defense cited the need for more time to thoroughly study the case file and prepare, as well as the “enormous” amount of evidence presented by the authorities.
They also emphasized that they had lost time due to Eisenberg’s transfer to Brooklyn. However, the prosecution argued that the allocated time for reviewing the evidence was sufficient.
Judge Arun Subramanian rejected the prosecution’s objections and rescheduled the trial for April 8, 2024.
In October 2022, Eisenberg and a group of traders attacked the DeFi platform on Solana, resulting in the withdrawal of approximately $116 million worth of digital assets.
The Mango Markets community eventually reached a deal with the hackers, in which they returned $69 million and kept $47 million as a reward.
