A data breach on December last year from the password management service LastPass resulted in the loss of $4.4 million worth of cryptocurrency for at least 25 victims.

MetaMask developer Taylor Monahan and blockchain investigator ZachXBT reported that the stolen funds were being tracked from addresses compromised on October 25.

The victims were mainly long-time users of LastPass who had saved their keys or seed phrases with the service.

LastPass confirmed the breach and assured that their zero-knowledge architecture would protect user information.

This incident follows a similar breach in September, which resulted in the theft of $35 million worth of cryptocurrency from 150 confirmed victims, all of whom were LastPass users.

Monahan noted that the victims in this case were highly knowledgeable about security, including employees of crypto organizations and developers of DeFi protocols.
