Bitfinex Report: Over 80% of Bitcoins Are Controlled by Hodlers
Based on data from Bitfinex, long-term investors currently hold 80.34% of the total supply of Bitcoin, while short-term investors only hold 19.34% of the cryptocurrency market turnover.
This trend has been increasing since late 2022 and coincides with a decline in the exchange supply of BTC.
Additionally, the overall number of profitable and unprofitable BTC transactions has reached its lowest level since 2019, with an average profit of $724 and a average loss of $236.
In contrast, in April 2021 and May 2022, the average profit and loss on BTC sales were $12,900 and $6,700 respectively, indicating a potential bottoming out of the market and the start of a new phase.
Despite a brief climb above $30,000, BTC has since fallen to a price of $28,350 and a market capitalization of $552.55 billion.
