Additional Uniswap Fees May Mean More Centralization

A researcher known as Haotian suggests that Uniswap’s recent implementation of transaction fees is not primarily for generating more profits.

Rather, the fees are meant to fund the growth and advancement of the ecosystem.

However, Haotian believes that this approach is more centralized in nature.

According to Haotian, the reason for this centralized approach is due to the expenses associated with developing and maintaining the front-end, applications, and expanding the product line.

He argues that these costs can only be effectively covered through additional fees.

Haotian also notes a distinction between Uniswap Labs and Uniswap, explaining that while the protocol is decentralized, the company still has control over the applications and user interface.

Thus, it has the power to make decisions about them on its own.

The researcher predicts that additional fees may only be the beginning of more centralized measures.
