On September 24, a hacking incident occurred on the cryptocurrency exchange HTX (formerly known as Huobi), where hackers targeted the hot wallet and managed to steal 5,000 ETH (worth $7.9 million).

The suspicious activity was detected by the Cyver Alerts service and further investigation revealed that the hacker then transferred 1001 ETH to another wallet.

In response to this, the HTX team immediately took action by moving the remaining funds from the hot wallet and offered to return the stolen funds voluntarily before October 2, along with a 5% reward for the return.

If the funds are not returned, the exchange plans to notify law enforcement and take legal action.

The hack was confirmed by Justin Sun, founder of the Tron cryptocurrency and member of HTX’s advisory board.

He reassured users that the exchange had fully covered the losses and successfully resolved the issue. Sun did not provide further details.

In a similar incident, on September 23, an unidentified individual hacked into cloud service provider Mixin Network and stole around $200 million in digital assets.
