Base’s Activity Exceed’s Ethereum’s
For the first time ever, two Layer 2 networks have surpassed Ethereum in terms of transactions per second (TPS).
Independent researcher Jason Chen noted that Base and zkSync Era took the first and second place respectively in the rankings for the past 24 hours.
Base, which is supported by Coinbase, reached a TPS of 12.93 according to L2Beat, while zkSync Era reached 12.62 TPS.
In comparison, Ethereum’s main network had a TPS of 10.18. In the past week, activity on the Base platform increased by almost 50%, with Chen noting that the project is successfully attracting liquidity from other chains and experiencing a growing trend.
According to BaseScan, on September 14, the network processed a record of 1.88 million transactions in a single day, surpassing the TVL (total value locked) of industry leaders Arbitrum and Optimism.
Base currently has a TVL of $381 million, while zkSync Era’s TVL is at $417 million, both showing stable trends over the past week.
