Crypto Supporter Miami Mayor Withdraws from Presidential Race
Francis Suarez, the mayor of Miami (Florida, USA) and a cryptocurrency supporter, has ended his campaign for the presidential election.
He has declared that running for President of the United States was “one of the greatest honors” of his life and has highlighted that the current president was “failing our country” when it comes to inflation levels, high interest rates, open borders, increasing crime rates and growing strength of enemies.
In November 2021, Suarez was said to be the first US politician to convert his salary to Bitcoin. This was still the case though the market was “bear” in December 2022.
His campaign was also accepting donations in cryptocurrency from August 2023.
Robert Francis Kennedy Jr. is the most prominent Bitcoin supporter in this presidential race, who previously described the asset as an “alternative to the traditional financial system” and expressed his disagreement towards US authorities “declaring war on cryptocurrencies,” which in turn caused an economic crisis in the country.
