Optimism Surpasses Arbitrum in Number of Daily Transactions
The daily transactions of Optimism’s Layer 2 Ethereum network exceeded 944,000 on July 27, making it the largest among its competitors.
This milestone came as a result of Sam Altman’s recently launched project, Worldcoin (WLD), which migrated its World App “gasless wallet” and World ID decentralized identity protocol to the Optimism ecosystem in May.
This caused the number of unique addresses on the Ethereum scaling network to increase from 4 million in early June to 7 million, with 276,000 wallets currently holding WLD tokens.
On the other hand, Arbitrum leads in terms of total value locked at $2.1 billion and active addresses per day – 154,000 and 102,000, respectively.
This change in numbers is also in response to the recent Bedrock update in early June, which reduced the average transaction cost for the L2 network by 56%, from $0.57 to $0.16.
