UK National Crime Agency is Hiring Crypto Experts
The UK National Crime Agency (NCA) is searching for experts in cryptocurrency-related crimes to join its brand new Digital Assets Team, which is part of the Complex Financial Crimes Unit.
The ideal candidate for the position is an accredited financial investigator with experience in analyzing the blockchain and investigating similar cases.
The promised annual salary is £47,380, and other civil service benefits are included.
This follows the NCA’s move in January 2023 to create an NCCU Crypto Cell within the agency, which has been equipped with “the necessary tools and powers” to monitor digital assets in the UK.
Officials have pointed out that the popularity of cryptocurrencies can be used as a means for criminals to legitimize illegally obtained funds as well as bypassing sanctions or extorting money.
In July, the British legislators passed a bill to confiscate and freeze any digital assets linked to criminal activities. This came after the three-year “Plan to Combat Economic Crimes” was proposed which will provide more measures to prevent the use of cryptocurrencies for criminal purposes.
