Sui Network Launches Permanent Testnet

Mysten Labs, a startup founded by former Meta engineers, has released their “permanent testnet” Sui Network. This testnet will remain operational even after the main network is launched and the data stored in it will not be erased upon each software update.

In November 2022, the Sui team launched the first Wave 1 testnet, and in January 2023, Mysten Labs implemented the second iteration of the debug blockchain to test the tokenomics mechanisms.

The main network of the project is scheduled to be released in the second quarter of 2023. The new testnet includes the core primitives that are necessary for the development of decentralized applications on the Sui Network.

This includes the Programmable Transaction Blocks feature, which is the basis of all network operations. The team also mentioned that validators meeting their criteria will be able to join the testnet.
