The price of Bitcoin in Nigerian exchange NairaEX in terms of local currency has jumped to $38,935, which implies a 64.4% premium to the global market.
According to reports, the discrepancy is connected with the limit imposed by the central bank of the country on withdrawing funds from ATMs.
According to the order issued by the regulator, the daily limit in the equivalent amounted to $217 and $43.5 one-time. There are high commissions for exceeding. It is allowed to load banknotes with a denomination of no more than 200 naira into ATMs.
The central bank of the country has adopted such a strict measure to reduce the share of cash in money circulation.
