The twitter account of investor and star of the TV show Shark Tank Kevin O’Leary has been used by some hackers to promote a fake distribution of Bitcoin and Ethereum.

The hackers claimed on behalf of the celebrity that he had made “a lot of money” in recent years from cryptocurrencies and decided to give away 5,000 BTC and 15,000 ETH.

The scammers wrote in additional messages that the investor has announced the event on CNBC the day before and his account was not hacked.

The fake posts were removed after a few hours.

The link promoted by the scammers to receive free cryptocurrency led to their website. The scammers presented it as O’Leary’s official platform for the distribution of digital assets. They said:

“Anyone can participate, including from the United States.”
