Christie’s NFT Sales Have Crashed this Year
Auction house Christie’s has sold a total of 87 NFTs for a total of $5.9 million this year, which is a 96% decrease from the previous year.
In 2021, the volume of sales exceeded $150 million against the background of the boom in the market of non-fungible tokens. A significant share in the indicator was provided by the work of Mike Winkelman, known under the pseudonym Beeple.
In March, NFT Everydays: The First 5000 Days was sold for $69.3 million, and in October, HUMAN ONE sold for $28.9 million.
According to the company, the significant drop in indicators in the field of digital art is due to its experimental nature and the general volatility of the crypto market.
However, Christie’s has stressed that they will continue to implement initiatives in this direction.
